Best places in El Poblado to try some of Medellin's amazing craft beer

A visit to a country without discovering it's beer? No can do. If you are in Medellin and you are just like me and looking into places beer-first then keep reading, this is a post for you!

Could you imagine me going to a new place and not trying to discover it by it's beer? I definitely do not. I've managed to visit plenty of places this time around, here is a list of my favorites:

Barrica cerveceria

Located in a very centric of El Poblado, and has 20 taps. With the extra bonus of being open early (opening around noon) and have the most amazing staff I encountered in the city!

Sierra Blanca Tap Room

A small tap room located a bit further from all the action, with plenty of beer and a few snacks. Probably the best beer I have tried in Medellin and the staff is competing with the one from Barrica Cerveceria for the title of "Leon's favorite". It is the only place we came back to twice during our visit!

Colombia Craft Brewing Company

Our late night stop after hanging out in El Poblado. 15 Taps of local beers and an interesting design to look at, especially after a few beers.

20Mission Cerveza

Just out of the busy area, there is the 20Mission Cerveza gastropub. A huge place with both craft beer and nice food that is also a home for concerts and live music. Definitely worth visiting if you are a large group or you enjoy live music

Bipolar Brewing Co

A small pub close to 20Mission Cerveza, once you get tired of socializing with everyone, you should come by this place to have some quality time in a small group. The place is very quiet and homey and is perfect to have conversation with your friend, spouse, or the bartender

Cerveceria Libre

The farthest brewery we got to from where the action is, but definitely has the best vibe out of all of them. With 18 taps and plenty more beer in the fridge, it is a close 2nd in the "Leon's favorite beer in Medellin" list

Final thoughts

Even though I really wanted to, I did not manage to go to all the beer places in El Poblado, whether because of too little time or too many places (it's probably the time thing...) but I managed to get quite a decent list. These were merely my favorites. Did I miss any? Let me know and I'll make sure I try it next time around!
