Places you shouldn't miss while visiting Boca Chica

Boca Chica is one of the most popular beaches on the island, especially for the locals. The prices are affordable and the water is shallow. The time moves slower in the Caribbean, here are some suggestions where you can enjoy it!

La Terrazza - The cheaper option

The beach is full with restaurants and clubs, which usually follow the minimum-cover-per-table business model. La Terrazza is one of the only ones that does not. The place offers food, drinks, beach beds and tables for the fairest prices on the beach. Choose your spot on the sun or in the shadow and enjoy your chill day! One thing to keep in mind, the place is very close to the sea, and when the high tide comes it might reach the beach beds.

Sporting Club - The best of all worlds

Probably the best value of the minimum-cover-per-table places. The place has beach beds, couches and tables and is very close to the beach. The food is very good and offers all kinds of fish and seafood together with some fried dishes. The cover price is changing from time to time, but usually it is covered by having lunch and a few beers. Better to call and reserve your spot a few hours before you come!

St. Tropez - High end

The most expensive place on this list, but the food is just WOW. You also cannot go wrong with a view to the sea and the option to dip in the water in a more private environment. Definitely worth visiting at least once!

Boat House - The best happy hour!

The boat house also offers cheaper accommodation in case you don't mind sleeping above the bar, but the main attraction is the happy hour that happens twice a day (3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm) offers great discounts on the local drinks (beer/rum/mamajuana). Pick you poison and enjoy your quiet from the sellers that are not entering the premises of the restaurant. For a bonus they also have great food!

Go diving with Tropical Sea Divers!

Like almost any beach town in the country, Boca Chica has it's own diving centers. My favorite is Tropical Sea Divers, located near The Boat House, go out of the shallow water to the real sea and enjoy the underwater view! The area is not filled with colorful corals or exotic fish, but you can see an amazing underwater terrain and plenty of fish and lobsters. And the latest dive can start around 2-3pm, for the late sleepers between us. And don't forget to bring a decent camera, so you can have better pictures than mine!

Stay for the street party

On weekends (and maybe during the week as well), the closest street to the beach is closed for vehicles, and there is a street party on that street. Choose your favorite place, sit in the middle of the street and enjoy your beer with the people around!

Final thoughts

There is something special about Boca Chica, it is our favorite beach, and we can easily see ourselves there every week! As always I only scratched the tip of the iceberg with what you can do in the town. Come, chill, and get used to saying no to anything the vendors are trying to sell you! Was this list helpful?
